Here is the photo story of Scar.
It was midnight on a cool winter
Friday night when I was out enjoying a game of pool with a friend. I was
about to take my shot when I was startled by my pager going off. I look
to see a phone # with a -911 at the end. So, I quickly made the call. It
was a couple that lived in an apartment across from the university. They
said they had a stray cat on their porch that looks like it had been hit
by a car. They mentioned that they had call Reno PD and that an officer
had just come out. He apperantly looked at the cat and advised them to
call animal control in the morning. Well, this obviously was not acceptable.
So, since I knew I would have won the pool game anyways, we turned in our
pool balls and rushed over to the apartment. Sure enough, there was the
poor, cold kitty laying on the porch. I picked him up, put him in a carrier
and inside the warm truck, got the info I needed and took him back home.
Upon examining him, I concluded that the injuries were not immediately
life threatening, so I gave him some food and water and made him comfortable
for the night. The next day, I got him in to see Dr. Ditsworth at Kings
Row Pet Hospital, who was gracious enough to donate his time and supplies
to help me with this kitten. It appeared as though the kitty was up under
the hood of a car, most likey to get out of the cold weather, when the
car was started. The wound looked consistant with the laceration and burning
of a fanbelt. This all had to have happened a few days prior, because the
wound was quite infected. So, the good doctor cleaned up the wound and
sent me home with antibiotics, cream, and instructions to put the kitty
on the road to recovery. As you can see from the picture dialog, after
much time and persistance, the wound healed and he was given the name Scar.
Here is the final photo of Scar and myself before finally placing him in a wonderful new adoptive home.
